Kathryn Ann Rood Saginaw, Michigan Passed away Saturday, July 21, 2018 at Luther Manor. Age 91 years. The daughter of the late Thomas Everett and Anna Minett was born April 21, 1927 in Clinton, Indiana. She married Robert Rood, January 29, 1946. He passed away December 30, 2014. Kathryn was very active in local politics and community volunteering. She championed womens elder and health issues, and Downtown Saginaw. She served on the Jury Commission of over 30 years, receiving an award honoring her service from the Saginaw County Commissioners. She was active with Business Professional Women, the League of Women Voters and AARP. She traveled extensively for her activities. She served on the Saginaw Civic Center Board for several years. She taught Community Outreach classes at Delta College and wrote a column, Kaytes Korner for the Saginaw Township Times for many years. Surviving are her three sons and their wives, Robert Rood; Larry and Sharon Rood; Ronald and Jill Rood; twelve grandchildren; thirteen great grandchildren; a sister and brother-in-law Shirley and Lee Bratcher; several nieces, nephews and her faithful companions, Koko, Beau and Bleu Belle. A son, Richard Rood, a daughter-in-law, Betty Lou Rood, and a sister and brother-in-law, Thomasine and Robert Butts have predeceased her. The funeral service will take place at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, July 26, 2018, at the W. L. Case and Co. Funeral Chapel, 4480 Mackinaw Rd. Rev. Robert Richards will officiate with burial in Roselawn Memorial Gardens. Friends may visit with family on Wednesday from 2:00-8:00 p.m. and from 9:00 a.m. Thursday until the time of the funeral. Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider the Humane Society of Saginaw County or the Saginaw Symphony.
