Kathryn "Kate" Elizabeth Gilmour of Bridgeport, Michigan

Beloved sister, aunt, cousin, and friend went home to be with her Lord and Savior, with her family by her side, on Friday, December 8, 2023, in the comfort of her home. She was 68 years old. Kathryn Elizabeth Gilmour was born on January 3, 1955, in Saginaw, Michigan, to the late John "Bud" T. and Shirley A. (Bean) Gilmour Jr. She was a proud 1973 graduate of Bridgeport High School. Shortly following graduation, Kate attended Saginaw Valley State University where she received both her Bachelor's Degree and Master's Degree in Education, as well as receiving an additional 30 credits beyond. Kate taught at Bridgeport Spaulding Community Schools for over 20 years. Highly creative, she had the eye, technical skills, and detailed mind to design, create, and sew beautiful quilts throughout her life. Musically gifted from an early age, Kate enjoyed playing the organ, piano, and guitar, which was her favorite, and shared her extraordinary skills teaching others the patience and dedication required to play the guitar masterfully. She also enjoyed spending time working on jig saw puzzles. Civically, Kate served as secretary of the Bridgeport Library Board of Trustees for nine years when the library was originally built. She will forever be remembered as a selfless giver and supporter to everyone she loved, as a gifted and talented artist and musician, for her loving, kind, and funny spirit, and for truly living an amazing life filled with many beautiful memories and stories.

Surviving are six brothers and sisters and their spouses: John (Deanna) Gilmour, Greg (Kathy) Gilmour, David Gilmour (Judith Martin), Lydia Gilmour, Jayne Gilmour, and Aaron Gilmour; 13 nieces and nephews: Ian Gilmour, Anna Gilmour, Megan (Matt) Nagy, Michael Gilmour, Molly Gilmour, Miles Gilmour, Tris Gilmour, Schyler Gilmour, Emily Byron, Samantha Barth, Andrew Barth (Jess Everts), Leigha (Clint) McGowan, Mariah (John) Van Deusen; nine great-nieces and nephews: Ethan Gilmour, Mikaela Nagy, Declan Nagy, Isaac Nagy, Cara Roush, Theoden Wagner, Eleeana Wilson, Vanessa Van Deusen, and Makayla Van Deusen; and her best friend, Cynthia R. Johnson.

She was preceded in death by her parents, John "Bud" and Shirley Gilmour.

The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the staff of Covenant VNA Hospice for all the love and care they provided to Kate and the family.

A funeral service will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, December 14, 2023, at the W. L. Case & Company Funeral Chapel, 5700 Dixie Highway, Saginaw, MI, 48601.Vic DiBerardino will officiate. Friends are welcome to visit with the family at the funeral chapel on Wednesday from 2:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. and on Thursday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service.
