Keith M. Bauer

Bauer, Keith M. Zilwaukee, MI Our beloved husband, father, and grandfather passed away Friday, January 23, 2015, at the age of 88 years. Keith was born May 10, 1926, in Zilwaukee to the late Fred and Alice (Smith) Bauer. He served in the U.S. Army during WWII. Keith married Rebecca "Becky" (Smith) Best on February 11, 1972; she survives him. He retired from Grey Iron Foundry in 1988 after 39 years of service. After his retirement he volunteered at Meals on Wheels, the Michigan Blood Bank, and the READ program at Carrollton Elementary School. He was a life member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Zilwaukee, VFW Post #1859 of Carrollton, the Lions Club of Zilwaukee, and received the Melvin Jones Fellowship. Besides his wife Becky he is survived by his children Kim (Wayne) McLean and Craig Bauer; grandchildren, Joseph Parks, Sarah McLean, Jorry, Alyssa, and Chelsea Bauer, Heidi (Ron) Portwine, and Tammy Colby; 8 great-grandchildren; and many special nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his son William Bauer; and his siblings, Guy and Belva. Funeral services will take place at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, January 28, 2015, at St. John's Lutheran Church 318 S. Franklin in Zilwaukee. Pastor Marcus Manthey will officiate with burial to follow in Forest Lawn Cemetery. Friends may visit with the family on Tuesday from 2:00 to 8:00 p.m. at W.L. Case & Company 4480 Mackinaw Road and again on Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service.
