Kelly Darlene Owen, age 42, passed into Heavenly peace after a long battle with Pulmonary Arterial Hypertension on Tuesday, December 1, 2015 at the University of Michigan Medical Center in Ann Arbor, MI. Kelly was born July 11, 1973 in Saginaw, MI to Glenn G. Barrigar and Deborah (Perkins) Barrigar-Tucker (Jacksonville, FL). She currently resided in Saginaw, and had formerly resided in Greenfield, TN. and Jacksonville, FL. Kelly graduated from Greenfield High School and attended Florida State College at Jacksonville. She was preceded in death by her father (Glenn), grandparents, several aunts and uncles, and several cousins. Until the final months of her illness, Kelly was employed as a Licensed, Certified Pharmacy Technician by Walgreens Pharmacy both in Saginaw and formerly in Jacksonville, where she was known for taking special interest in her regular customers and giving extraordinary attention to their medicinal and insurance needs. For many years, she was an active member of Murray Hill Baptist Church in Jacksonville, serving with the Children's Ministry in a variety of volunteer positions. At the time of her death, she was a member of the congregation at Crosspoint Chapel of Saginaw, again serving with the various areas of the ministry to children, especially the preschoolers. Kelly will long be remembered for exhibiting to all the loving relationship she shared with her Savior, Jesus Christ. Her life, though filled with medical issues over the past decade, was a shining example of His Grace. She was affiliated with the Saginaw-area Better Breathers Support Group. Kelly's hobbies included crocheting and enjoying the company of family and friends; she enjoyed attending Broadway shows and concerts, and loved movies. A long-time single mother, Kelly was devoted to her family and her many friends. She will be missed dearly by her daughter Staci Owen, her mother Deborah, her brothers Christopher Barrigar (Julie Benusa) of Russellville, MO and Keith Barrigar (Cecilia); her sister Dr. Sarah Barrigar (Ron); her step-mother Alice (Richmond) Barrigar, all from Saginaw; uncles, aunts, cousins, and a host of friends and colleagues, predominantly in Florida and Michigan, but in other areas of the country as well Always one to think of others, in gratitude for the life-extending treatment she received over the years, and with an earnest desire to assist in the research specific to Pulmonary Hypertension, Kelly applied for and was accepted by the Anatomical Donations Program at University of Michigan Medical Center. Memorial services to celebrate the life of this extraordinary young woman are planned to accommodate friends and family in both Michigan and in Florida. The Michigan service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, January 10, 2016 at Crosspoint Chapel, 3111 Barnard Road, Saginaw. Pastor Rob Troutman will officiate; friends and family will be invited to share memories of Kelly, if they so desire. The Florida service for friends and family will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 20, at Murray Hill Baptist Church, 4300 Post Street, Jacksonville (32205). Those wishing to share memories of Kelly will be invited to do so at that time. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made in Kelly's memory to the University of Michigan Giving, Pulmonary Hypertension Program/Cardiovascular Center, 3003 S. State Street, Ann Arbor, MI 48109 or to the charity of your choice.
