Kenneth B. "Kip" Robertson

March 3, 1939 — March 24, 2015

Kenneth B. "Kip" Robertson

Passed away peacefully, in his home, with his beloved wife and children at his side on Tuesday, March 24th, 2015. Kip was born on March 2, 1939, to the late Kenneth and Jane (Everett) Robertson. His brother Keith "Robby" Robertson of Flushing MI predeceased him. Kip married the love of his life, Toby Thomas Robertson on May 27, 1961 and his fierce love and devotion to her was evident to all. Surviving him are his wife Toby, along with their son Randy Robertson and wife Marcy Bank Robertson as well as their daughter Holly Robertson Meyers and David Meyers and granddaughter Sophia Grace Meyers. Kip Graduated from Arthur Hill H.S. and attended Ferris State College. After the sale of the family business, Robertson's Laundry and Linen in 1974, Kip became a successful self-employed businessman of more than 30 years in the Saginaw area. In 1962 Kip became a big brother in the Big Brother Big Sister organization to a young boy by the name of Bill Lauman. Kip's Commitment to Big Brothers and his devotion to mentoring young Bill led not only to a longstanding, lifelong relationship between the two but was recognized by the organization. In 1975 both Kip and Bill were awarded a life time achievement award for their long standing relationship and Exemplary example they set as the new standard for the Big Brothers Big Sister organization. In 1967, Kip built his first home for his wife and family in The Village. His effervescent personality was largely responsible for drawing in a large group of neighbors, who together developed friendships so strongly bonded they remain intact to this day. After 30 years in the village, he then built a retirement home for him and his wife Toby in the Greenbrier neighborhood. True to his nature, another neighborhood group was formed, which is affectionately known as "The Boys in the Hood". While Kip and Toby were fortunate to have done a considerable amount of traveling throughout the country, Europe and the US Virgin Islands his favorite place in the world was simply sitting alongside his best buds with a beer in his hand, watching a game, participating in their annual deck walks, annual Olympics competitions, or just enjoying a good laugh with his pals. There are no words that can express the loss that is currently being felt by a multitude of people who loved and cared for this man more than one could possibly imagine. We love you! Good bye for now and we will see you on the other side. God Bless and God speed. Funeral services will take place at 11:00 a.m. Monday, March 30, 2015, at Faith Ev. Lutheran Church, 4432 Mackinaw Rd.
