Kenneth (Grubby) James Smythe

Smythe, Kenneth James (Grubby) Merrill, Michigan Passed away Sunday, January 19, 2014 at his residence, age 58 years. Kenneth was born December 27, 1955 in Saginaw, Michigan the son of Bonnie (DeGuise) and the late Kenneth E. Smythe. Kenneth loved camping, hunting and fishing. He was a member of the National Trappers Association and had authored a book and two how-to videos on trapping. In addition to his mother, Bonnie, Kenneth is survived by three children, Bonnie Smythe, Shaine Barnes and Tony Smythe; five grandchildren, Samantha Abell, Savannah Barnes, Lane Barnes, Calvin Abell and Shailynn Schellhorn; a brother, Ricky Smythe and a sister, Kim Klimek. In addition to his father, Kenneth was predeceased by a daughter, Shawn; a granddaughter, Kaitlynn Barnes;a sister, Luann and a sister-in-law, Sharon Smythe. According to his wishes, cremation has taken place. A memorial service will take place 3:00 p.m. Friday, January 24, 2014 at W. L. Case & Company, Merrill, MI. Rev. Richard Gossett will officiate. Friends may visit with the family at the chapel from 11:00 a.m. until time of the service.
