Kenneth John Eisenlord, 56, of Dexter, Michigan passed away suddenly on March 24, 2020 in Harrison, Michigan.
Ken was born December 25, 1963, in Flint Michigan to parents Jack and Gerry Eisenlord, formerly of Midland, Michigan. The family moved several times while he was growing up; Ken resided briefly in Flushing Michigan, Romeo Michigan, Cazenovia New York, Worthington Ohio, and Bloomfield Hills, Michigan. Ken graduated from Wylie E Groves High School in Beverly Hills Michigan. He attended Michigan Tech University and Oakland Community College, and graduated from the University of Michigan with a degree in Communications.
Ken loved working with his hands, especially anything mechanical. He always seemed to be working on something. Ken was a car guy’s car guy. He owned and worked on many sports cars and motorcycles over the years. Ken was also a motorsport junky, he caught the spark when he started attending road races at Watkins Glen with his brothers in the 1970’s. He loved car racing, and even raced Go Karts himself. While in Cazenovia, Ken’s father and brothers also taught him to love fishing. Ken loved northern Michigan, and would often head there when he had time off to see family and spend time outdoors. Ken spent a lot of time with his sons skateboarding, snowmobiling, snowboarding, and fishing. He was a mentor to his sons, as well as to many of his sons’ friends, and to those with whom he worked.
Ken enjoyed travel and adventure; 100 mile boat trips to go fishing in the Bahamas, investment property in Mexico and a destination wedding in the Riviera Maya, visiting Russia and the Ukraine to support his good friend going to the International Space Station. Ken was full of life and exuberance.
While making a purchase at Lumber Liquidators, Ken struck up a conversation with the store manager. The manager immediately saw that Ken would be a good fit for their store and offered him a job. Soon, Ken was managing the store. Like so many people that Ken met, they became close friends; Ken eventually followed him to Cabinets to Go. Ken was a Regional Manager for Cabinets to Go, managing stores in all areas of the country. Ken had a gift of turning failing stores into successful ones; Ken insisted on hard work and integrity from those with whom he worked. He was a valued and beloved team member.
Ken is survived by his parents, John and Geraldine (Ulanowicz) Eisenlord of Fairfield Glade Tennessee; two sons: Zachary and Owen Eisenlord, both of Dexter Michigan; three siblings: David Eisenlord (Ann Murray) of Minnetonka Minnesota, Joan Eisenlord Powers (Tom) of Webster New York, James Eisenlord of Pompano Beach, Fl; several nieces, nephews, grandnieces, grandnephews, and cousins; one aunt and uncle: Eugene and Trudy Ulanowicz of Grand Rapids Michigan.
Ken was deeply loved and respected by his family and those who came to know him. He embodied his Christmas birthday; he was kind, loving, generous, genuine, and forever optimistic. Ken loved people and life and brought joy to so many. He lived in the moment, for the moment. His light in this world will be dearly missed.
