Kenneth "Ken" Anthony Prebay of Bridgeport, Michigan
Beloved husband, father, grandfather “Papa”, brother, and friend, passed away peacefully on Sunday, January 03, 2021, at Covenant HealthCare - Harrison. He was 79 years old. Kenneth Anthony Prebay was born on June 13, 1941, in Bay City, MI to the late Casimer and Adeline (Jean) Prebay. On July 22, 1959, Kenneth proudly served his country by enlisting into the United States Marine Corps at Camp Pendleton, California, receiving an honorable discharge as a Corporal (E4) on July 19, 1963, in Arlington, Virginia. Upon his return, he married the love of his life, Carol Ann Guenther on September 24, 1963, at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Crofton, Nebraska; she survives him. Ken was employed with General Motors as a linesman, retiring after 30 years of dedicated service. He enjoyed playing golf, watching sports on television, as well as attending live sporting events. Ken also loved traveling, especially taking daylong road trips with Carol. He will forever be remembered for his sense of adventure, his hard work ethic, and his selflessness with family and friends.
Ken is survived by wife of 57 years, Carol Prebay of Bridgeport; three children: Scott (Jennifer) Prebay of Lake Orion; Darcie (David) Nicklyn of Saginaw; Shawnta Prebay (Mark Finnell) of Saginaw; grandchildren: Justin Nicklyn, Kaitlyn (Preston) Weber, Rylee Wobio, Hannah Nicklyn, Connor Nicklyn, Lauren Prebay, Chase Wobio, four brothers: Chuck (Chris) Prebay, Richard (Grace) Prebay, Gary (Mary Jane) Prebay, Jack (Diane) Prebay; a brother-in-law, Ron Buchalski.
Ken was preceded in death by a sister, Corrine Buchalski.
A funeral Liturgy will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, January 8, 2021, at St. Francis de Sales Parish, (St. Christopher), 3945 Williamson Road, Bridgeport. Rev. Fr. John Mancini OSFS will officiate. Military Honors will conclude at the church under the auspices of the United States Marine Corps and American Legion Post #439. Honoring Ken’s wishes cremation will follow the service. Friends are welcome to visit with the family on Friday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of Mass. In accordance with the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services Ordinance, building capacity is limited, face masks are required and social distancing encouraged. In lieu of flowers, those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorials to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
