Larry D. Bigelow

Larry D. Bigelow, age 90, of Merrill, passed away on Tuesday, March 5, 2024, with his family at his side.

Larry was born in Middleton, Michigan on September 16, 1933, the son of the late William Bigelow and Irene Johnson Bigelow. He attended Breckenridge High School. He met Donna Fountain at a Knights of Columbus dance, and they were united in marriage on August 30, 1952. He and Donna traveled with friends all over the United States. They were always ready for a good Euchre game and enjoyed square dancing. Donna preceded him in death on April 9, 2017. Larry worked at Lobdell Emery Manufacturing for over forty years and enjoyed farming with his dad. He loved his horses and liked to work in his garden and flower beds. 

Larry is survived by daughters Cherrie Lamont of Merrill and Charmin (Kirk) Santhany of Holland and sons Calvin (Annette) Bigelow of Wheeler and Chris (Sharon) Bigelow of Eaton Rapids; eleven grandchildren Ricky (Bobbie Jo) Lamont Jr., Trisha Lamont (Scott Anderson), Ryan (Stephanie) Lamont, Robbie (Trish) Lamont, Kalie (Gabe) Van Kirk, Sam Bigelow, Shayne (Claire) Bigelow, Carrie (Jeff) Nohel, Holly Bigelow, Sara (Joel) Meier, Annette (Aaron) Copeland; twenty-eight great-grandchildren; eleven great-great-grandchildren; four sisters Beverly Fillhard of Alma, Janice (Gale) Devereaux of Sanford, Jean Welsh of Gladwin, and Sharon (Don) Ferguson of Beaverton, one brother Terry (Sande) Bigelow of Merrill, and one sister-in-law JoAnna Hansen of Alma. 

Larry was preceded in death by his wife Donna Bigelow; granddaughter Kelsie Santhany; son-in-law Rick Lamont Sr.; brothers Gerald (Rita) Bigelow, Carlyle (Carrie) Bigelow and sister Virginia (Carl) Cole; brothers-in-law Lyndon Fillhard, John Welsh, Orval (Inez) Fountain, and Leo (Mary) Fountain; four nephews and six nieces. 

Friends may visit with the family from 2:00 – 8:00 p.m. on Friday, March 8, 2024, at W.L. Case and Company Funeral Directors, 125 E Saginaw St, Merrill, MI 48637, where the funeral service will take place at 11 a.m. on Saturday, March 9, 2024.
