Larry D. Fortier

Larry D. Fortier Saginaw, Michigan Passed away Friday, April 3, 2015, at Covenant-Cooper. Age 79 years. The son of the late Cyril and Meta (Himm) Fortier was born October 6, 1935 in Saginaw, Michigan. He married Carol J. Kennedy, October 15, 1955. She survives him. He was employed by General Motors, Plant 5, retiring in 1993 with 28 years of service. He was a member of Holy Spirit Catholic Church and a life-long member of the Knights of Columbus Council #4232. He was an avid collector of stamps and coins. Surviving besides his wife, Carol, are three children, Renee Waldron and her husband, David, Traverse City, MI; Larry Fortier, Jr. and his wife, Diane, Breckenridge, MI; Cassandra Fortier and her fianc, Rich Vervinck, Saginaw, MI; 9 grandchildren, Amy and Renny Rohde; Melissa and Steve Moore; Jeremy and Jamie Waldron; Ashley Fortier; Aaron Fortier; Randall Griebel; Christina Griebel and her fianc, Jake Ennis; Jennifer Bradberry; George Nemetz; 13 great grandchildren, Emma, Miranda, Deion, Logan, Brianna, Austin, Linkenn, Nicklas, Lydiah, Kayden, Connor, Jayce, and Cole; three sisters, Delores Swickard; Donna Walderzak; Jeanette Mayer; many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by five brothers and two sisters, Cyril, Richard, Charles, Robert, Duane, Marie and Bernadette. The funeral liturgy will take place at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, April 7, 2015, at Holy Spirit Catholic Church, 1035 N. River Rd. Rev. Peter Gaspeny will officiate with entombment in Mt. Olivet Mausoleum. Friends may call at the W. L. Case and Co. Funeral Chapel, 201 N. Miller Rd. from 2:00-9:00 p.m. Monday where a vigil service will be held at 7:00 p.m. Friends may then call at the Church from 9:00 a.m. Tuesday until the time of the funeral liturgy.
