Burr, Larry Whitlock Saginaw, Michigan Died peacefully Saturday, October 24, 2015. Age 79 years. Larry was born in Burrville, Utah, November 18, 1935. He acquired a strong work ethic ranching as a young man. He graduated from Utah State University with a mechanical engineering degree. In 1965 he moved to Saginaw Michigan to work for General Motors Corp. He married Shirley Reeve on April 10, 1981 in the Salt Lake City Utah temple. Larry retired after more than 46 years with Saginaw Steering Gear/Delphi Corporation/ Nexteer. In 2012 he was inducted into the Nexteer Automotive Hall of Fame. In addition to more than fifteen patents, Larry contributed many designs that are still used throughout the automotive industry today. He also received recognition from suppliers for improvement to their product quality. Larry specialized in electromechanical devices in steering columns. His special expertise in automotive theft was featured in the Wall Street Journal. Larry was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. In addition to serving in many church leadership positions throughout his life, he generously shared his time and skills/talents with those in need. In his spare time he enjoyed woodworking - crafting quality furniture for his family. He was the proud father of five Eagle Scouts. He is survived by his wife, Shirley and their four sons, Justin R. Burr, Columbus, Ohio; Jason W. Burr (Abbie) Orem, Utah; Nathan J. Burr (Hillary) Spanish Fork, Utah; and Ryan J. Burr (Mary) Dearborn, MI.; and three grandsons. He is also survived by two children from a previous marriage; Randon J. Burr, Utah and Lori Kaye (Larry) Gleim, Utah and their six children along with one brother, Jack F. Burr (Lora) Koosharem, Utah and sister, Janet Olcott, Eagle Mt. Utah The funeral service will take place at 11:00 AM Saturday, October 31, 2015 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 1415 N. Center Rd. with interment at the Burrville, Utah Cemetery. Friends may call at W.L.Case Funeral Chapel, 4480 Mackinaw Rd. from 6:308:30 pm Friday, October 30; and then at the church Saturday beginning at 9:30 am.
