Churchill, Laurene Leila Saginaw, Michigan Passed away early Wednesday, February 21, 2018, at the Cartwright Care Residence, at the age of 92 years. Laurene Leila Knoedler was born August 21, 1925, the daughter of the late Marie Helen (Halbgewachs) and Otto William Knoedler, in Eustis, Nebraska. She enjoyed her early years growing up in Nebraska, until moving to Michigan. She retired from Michigan Bell Telephone Company after 10 years of service, and was a member of its Pioneers Club. She was a member of Charity Tabernacle in Montrose, Michigan. An avid gardener, Laurene was known as the Mississippi Mud Farmer, and helped many with her expertise. She also enjoyed embroidery. Surviving are her daughter and son-in-law, Nancy K. and Carl Miller, Saginaw; her son, Robert J. Churchill, California; her grandchildren, Barbie and Brian Wight, Clarkston; Steve and Angie Miller, Au Gres; David Miller, Bay City; several great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren; her sister, Betty McGillem, Saginaw; several nieces, nephews and their families. She was predeceased by her granddaughter, Vickie Shauger, and by her long-time companion, William Graff. Funeral service will take place at 12:00 noon on Friday, February 23, 2018, at Charity Tabernacle, 2012 Chesaning Road, Montrose. Pastor Manley Brokaw will officiate. Private committal will take place later in Roselawn Memorial Gardens. Laurenes family will receive friends at the W. L. Case and Company Funeral Chapel, 5700 Dixie Highway, from 2:00 - 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. on Thursday and then at the church on Friday from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service.
