Goschke, LaVerne Saginaw, Michigan Passed away Wednesday, March 12, 2014 at Midland King's Daughters, age 92 years. LaVerne was born in Saginaw, Michigan February 1, 1922 the son of the late Emil and Caroline (Bruns) Goschke. LaVerne served in the United States Army during WW II. He completed his term of duty as a Staff Sergeant. He married Thelma V. Wale May 9, 1944. She predeceased him June 14, 2003. He was employed with Saginaw Steering Gear, Plant No. 1 for 35 years, retiring in 1981 as a supervisor. LaVerne was a very talented woodworker and an avid bowler. He enjoyed going boating and fishing. He played the accordion, organ and harmonica. He was a member of the Salina-Pioneer Lodge #79, F & AM and Faith Lutheran Church. LaVerne is survived by three sons and their spouses, Terry (Lydia) Goschke, Dennis (Joyce) Goschke and Russ (Sheila) Goschke; seven grandchildren, Kevin, Chris, Linda, Terry, Pam, Cheryl and Nicole; fifteen great-grandchildren; two sisters, Beatrice Himmelein and Delores Tyra. He was predeceased by a granddaughter, Patti Jo Goschke and three brothers, Leslie, Leroy and Russell Goschke. The funeral service will take place 11:30 a.m. Monday, March 17, 2014 at W. L. Case & Company, 4480 Mackinaw Rd. Rev. Michael Hahn will officiate. Burial will take place in Roselawn Memorial Gardens with military services under the auspices of VFW Post No. 1859, Carrollton. Friends may visit with the family at the funeral chapel Sunday from 4:00 8:00 p.m. where they can join the family for a Masonic Memorial service at 7:00 p.m. under the auspices of Salina-Pioneer Lodge #79 F & AM. Friends may also visit on Monday from 10:30 a.m. until time of the service.
