King, Lawrence V. Jr. Bridgeport Township, Michigan Beloved father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend, passed away suddenly on Friday, July 24, 2015, at his home, at the age of 68 years. Larry was born August 31, 1946, in Saginaw, the son of the late Patricia (Peters) and Lawrence V. King, Sr. He graduated from Arthur Hill High School with the Class of 1964. He served with the US Air Force from 1964 1968, serving in Intelligence Services. He spent two years in Japan and one year in Da Nang, Vietnam. He had been employed by Michigan Bell Telephone as Regional Property Manager, retiring after 27 years of service. He retired from a second career at Bridgeport Charter Township as Planning/Zoning/Enforcement officer. Larry was a member and Past President of the Bridgeport Spaulding School Board, served as Trustee of the Bridgeport Charter Township Board, and was a member of the Bridgeport Charter Township Planning Commission. He served as a Reserve Officer for the Saginaw County Sheriff Department and also with the Birch Run Village Township Police Department. He was especially proud of his time with Birch Run Village Township Police Department and considered them part of his family. Larry also enjoyed many special fishing trips with family and friends. He was a member of the Kochville VFW Post #9809, where he served on the Honor Guard and as Adjutant. Larry was a devoted father and was very grateful for the gift of his children and grandchildren in his life. He leaves to cherish his memory two daughters and one son, Wendy King and Jack Johnston, Bridgeport, Christine and Tim Salgat, Pinconning, and Michael King, Saginaw; his two beloved grandchildren, Courtney and Corey King; his sister, Sue and Jerry Sonnenberg, Saginaw; his brother, Tom King, Saginaw; several nieces and many special friends and neighbors. Funeral service will take place at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, July 29, 2015, at the W. L. Case & Company Funeral Chapel, 5700 Dixie Highway, where his family will receive friends from 1:00 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday where the Kochville VFW Post #9809 will conduct military memorial. Friends may then call at the chapel from 10:00 a.m. Wednesday until the time of service. Rev. Rachel A.M. Laughlin will officiate with military burial services in Oakgrove Cemetery under the auspices of the Carrollton VFW Post #1859.
