Leonard A. Rohde

Leonard A. Rohde of Saginaw Township, Michigan Beloved father, grandfather, and great-grandfather passed away on Monday, August 5, 2019, at Covenant HealthCare - Harrison. He was 86 years old. Leonard August Rohde was born on October 10, 1932, in Bridgeport, to the late John August and Amandine Lorena (Pontseele) Rohde. Leonard married the love of his life, Betty June Newman on April 4, 1959; she preceded him in death on November 13, 1998. He was employed by Saginaw Steering Gear as a machine operator for over 30 years and also as a dock worker at Sears for over 25 years. Leonard retired from both in 1998. He was a member of Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church in Saginaw. As a young man Leonard enjoyed bowling. He also enjoyed going to the casino and was an avid Labor Day Mackinac Bridge walker. Above all, Leonard loved and cherished his family. He will forever be remembered for his nonjudgmental kind heart and his hard work ethic. Surviving are two daughters: Julie (Brad) Craft of Decatur, AL; Brenda Lentner; five grandchildren: Crystal Rohde, Nicole (Michael) Wahl, Amanda (Nick) Landenberg, Steven Craft, Jessica (Nick Adamczak) Lentner; seven great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Linda Rohde; sister, Marie Rohde. A funeral service will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, August 9, 2019, at the Zion Lutheran Church, 1209 Hancock Street. Rev. Susan Hand will officiate. Burial will follow at Roselawn Memorial Gardens. Friends are welcome to visit with the family on Thursday at the W. L. Case and Company Funeral Chapel, 4480 Mackinaw Road from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Leonard will lie in state at the church on Friday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service.
