Leonard Paul Engel, known to his loved ones as Len or Lenny, passed away suddenly on November 3, 2023, in Saginaw, Michigan. He was born on December 15, 1949, in Saginaw.
Leonard attended Arthur Hill High School and graduated with the class of 1968. Following his education, he embarked on a successful career at General Motors as a machinist. Len's dedication and craftsmanship were evident in his work, earning him the respect and admiration of his colleagues.
Beyond his professional pursuits, Leonard had a wide range of interests and hobbies that brought him immense joy. He was an avid reader and found solace in getting lost in the pages of books. The tranquility of gardening captivated him, allowing him peaceful moments amidst nature's beauty. An adventurous soul at heart, Len cherished traveling across the United States, particularly enjoying road trips that allowed him to discover new places and experience different cultures. Leonard also had an unwavering passion for sports and was a devoted spectator of his favorite teams. Cheering them on filled him with enthusiasm and camaraderie. Len loved animals, he cherished his pets and always smiled when a dog or cat was nearby.
Family meant everything to Leonard. He was preceded in death by his parents Leonard C. and Rae Joyce (Kruske) Engel. Left to cherish his memory are his beloved wife Vickie whom he married on October 5, 1975. Together they built a strong partnership rooted in love and mutual support.
He also leaves behind his son Justin L. Engel and step-children Kevin Wolff and Carissa Wolff. Leonard treasured his time with his step-grandchildren Samantha and Zachary, and his faithful companion Tashi.
In addition to his immediate family, Leonard is survived by his brother Steven "Kip" (Maureen) Engel, brother-in-law Bob Buggia, brother-in-law Dino Buggia, sister-in-law Virginia Fila, and many nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends. He was known for his quiet, and steady presence, supporting his family and friends.
Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, November 10, 2023 at W. L. Case and Company Funeral Directors, 4480 Mackinaw Rd. Rev. Ted McCulluch will officiate with burial at Forest Lawn Cemetery. Friends may visit with the family on Thursday at the funeral chapel, from 6:00-8:00 p.m. and on Friday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the funeral service.
