LeRoy Wayne Peterson Saginaw, Michigan Formerly of Turner, MI Our loving husband, father and grandfather went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, October 26, 2017, age 85 years. He was born on January 4, 1932, son of the late Louis and Leona (Dallman) Peterson, in Spencer, Wisconsin. LeRoy married Marjorie Rainsberger on April 7, 1951, who survives him. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean conflict and was stationed in the Panama Canal zone, where Marjorie and their son Dennis went along with him. He was a member of Merrill Congregational Christian Church. LeRoy retired from Saginaw Steering Gear as a Skilled Trades Machine Repairman after many years of service and was a member of the U.A.W. Local #699. In his retirement years he managed Body and Soul Health Club in Houghton Lake. He enjoyed reading, gardening, hunting, had a big heart for dogs, vacationing with his family, tinkering with both large and small projects and most of all supporting his grandchildren at school and sporting events. LeRoy will be missed by his wife, Marjorie and their children, Dennis (Lindy) Peterson, Marlene (Terry) Peterson-Decio, Julie (John) VanderWeide and Lynette (Richard) Violette; grandchildren, Angie (T.J.) Dombroski, Chad, Alex, Isaac, Dennae and Abbi Peterson, Hope and Logan Stanaway, Danielle (Tom) Felton, Adam (Jennifer) Peterson, Erin Peterson, Lora Kinney, Crystal (Tim) York, Terri Kinney, Lance (Jessi Koontz) Kinney and Danielle Kinney, Heather (Brian) Frick, John (Alex) VanderWeide, Ben (Debbie) VanderWeide, Luke (Terri) VanderWeide, Mark (Clara) VanderWeide, Joseph (Emily) VanderWeide, Samuel (Casey) VanderWeide, Matthew, Steven, Lynette, Michael and William VanderWeide, Nicholas (Kayla) Violette, Hannah (Daniel) Kroll and Maria Violette; great grandchildren, Wyatt, Emelia, Morgan, Warren, Gunnar, Lorelei, Noah, Alyvea, Areana, Nicholas, Orin, Massimo, Hudson, Aydin, Ehren, Dylan, Evyn, Macy, Ethan, Lincoln, John and Fleur; one brother, LaVerne (Marion) Peterson; also many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brothers, Donald and Marvin Peterson. The funeral service will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, October 30, 2017 at W. L. Case and Company, 125 E. Saginaw Street, Merrill, MI. Rev. CJ denDulk will officiate. Friends may visit with the family from 3:00 to 6:00 p.m. on Sunday and on Monday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service.
