Lester Allen Winterstein Hemlock, Michigan Loving husband of Leona (Penny) Albaugh Winterstein passed away Friday, December 5, 2014 at Schnepp's Care Facility in St. Louis, MI. Age 79 years. The son of the late Arthur and Marilda (Whelton) Winterstein was born November 10, 1935 in Saginaw, Michigan. He married Marsha Elaine Johnson. She passed away November 28, 1993. Later he married Leona May Albaugh. She survives him. Lester served with the U.S. Army during the Korean War and was a member of the Hemlock-Merrill V.F.W. Post 7302. He was employed by General Motors, Saginaw Steering Gear (Nexteer), retiring with 26 years of service. He was a member of U.A.W. Local 699. He was a member of St. Peter Lutheran Church, Hemlock and enjoyed fishing, traveling and country music. Surviving besides his wife, Leona, are five step-children and their spouses, Susan and David Cole, Breckenridge, MI; Kenneth and Frances Albaugh, Beaverton, MI; Daniel and Robin Albaugh, Memphis, TN; Dennis and Marlowe Albaugh, Wheeler, MI; Connie and Scott McCullough, Naples, Florida; several step-grandchildren and step great-grandchildren; two brothers, one sister and their spouses, Arthur and Margaret Winterstein; Norman and Ruth Winterstein; Louise and Jack Peters; a sister-in-law, Marilyn Winterstein; many nieces and nephews. A brother, Bernard Winterstein has predeceased him. The funeral service will take place at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, December 10, 2014 at St. Peter Lutheran Church, 2461 N. Raucholz Rd. Hemlock. Rev. Dr. William L. Morris will officiate with burial in Vinewood Cemetery, Edmore. Military honors will be under the auspices of the Hemlock-Merrill V.F.W. Post 7302. Friends may call at the W. L. Case and Co. Funeral Chapel, 201 N. Miller Rd. from 2:00-8:00 p.m. Tuesday and then at the Church from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the funeral service.
