Lewellyn Albert Krauss of Hemlock, Michigan
Beloved father, grandfather, great-grandfather, great-great-grandfather, and brother, passed away peacefully with his family by his side on Sunday, August 30, 2020, at Ascension St. Mary’s Hospital. He was 91 years old. Lewellyn Albert Krauss was born on July 12, 1929, in Saginaw, Michigan, to the late Albert and Hulda (Scherzer) Krauss. He was a proud graduate of Arthur Hill Trade School. Lew married the love of his life, Audrey Elaine Scharf on July 29, 1950; she preceded him in death on February 18, 2010. He worked as a carpenter his entire life and retired five years ago. Much of his work is on display at the Midland Historical Society, Midland Center for the Arts, Alden B. Dow Historical Museum, Herbert H. Dow Historical Museum, and also includes creating and assembly of the Parducci Mural, all in Midland. Lew took great pride in helping build all three of his children’s homes. Over the years, he enjoyed bowling, but above all he loved listening to or watching Tigers Baseball.
Surviving are two daughters, one son and their spouses: Christine and Gerard Farrar; Laurie and Brent Kedzierski; Joel and Maureen Krauss all of Hemlock; seven grandchildren: Amanda (Drew) Mimmie, Jason Krauss, Emily Farrar, Kyle (Heather) Kedzierski, Lance Kedzierski, Eric and Samantha Krauss; seven great-grandchildren: Steven, Trent, Megan, Hannah, Kirslyn, Addison and Haley; five great-great-grandchildren: SJ, Blakelynn, Amy, Evan, and Briar; brother, Billy (Marlene) Krauss of Midland; sister, Carol (Jim) Lovell of West Branch. Also surviving are many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
He was preceded in death by a son, Jan Krauss, granddaughter, Jennifer Krauss.
A funeral service will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, September 2, 2020, at Zion Lutheran Church, 17927 Dice Road, Hemlock. Rev. Paul A. Hauser will officiate. Burial will follow in Richland Lutheran Cemetery. Family and friends are welcome to visit at the church from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service. Pursuant to the current state executive order, indoor building capacity is limited, face coverings are required, and social distancing encouraged. The family appreciates everyone’s efforts to reduce the spread of Covid-19 in our community.
