Lillian “Lil” Elaine Giltrop of Birch Run, Michigan
Beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and sister passed away peacefully at her home with her family by her side on Thursday, September 17, 2020. She was 89 years old. Lillian Elaine Ureche was born on May 15, 1931, in Saginaw, Michigan, to the late George and Magdalena (Erli) Ureche. She was a proud graduate of Arthur Hill High School. Following graduation, Lillian met the love of her life, George Giltrop and they were united in marriage on July 26, 1952; he preceded her in death on July 14, 1997. She was a faithful member of St. Francis & Clair Parish. Lillian worked as a bus driver for over 20 years with the Bridgeport Spaulding School District. She enjoyed playing Bingo, going to the casino, and as a young lady she also enjoyed fishing. Above all, Lillian loved and cherished family and found being a homemaker the most rewarding of professions. She will forever be remembered for her caring, loving and very kind spirit.
Surviving are three sons and one daughter: Daniel (Kathy) Giltrop of Birch Run; Jean Holbrook of Fosters; David Giltrop of Birch Run; Mark Giltrop of Birch Run; five grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; sister, Kathleen Englehardt of Frankenlust Twp; Paul Ureche of Chicago; George Ureche of Idaho. Also surviving are many cousins, nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends.
She was preceded in death by a son, Phillip Giltrop; two sisters: Madelyn, Helen and Betty; two brothers: James and John.
A private Funeral Liturgy will be held on Tuesday, September 22, 2020, at SS. Francis & Clare Parish, 12157 Church Street, Birch Run. Rev. Fr. Thomas McNamara will officiate. Rite of Committal will follow at Assumption BVM Cemetery. Family and friends are welcome to visit with the family on Monday, September 21, 2020, at the W. L. Case & Company Funeral Chapel, 5700 Dixie Highway from 2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Pursuant to the current state executive order, indoor building capacity is limited, face coverings are required, and social distancing encouraged. In lieu of flowers, those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorials to the American Diabetes Association or the American Cancer Society.
