Our loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother, passed away peacefully on Monday, March 16, 2020. Age 93 years.

Jean was born on October 25, 1926, daughter of the late Guy Pascal and Anna Irene (Hutzel) Main, in Middletown, Maryland. She graduated high school at the age of 16 and went on to attend Hood College for two years. Jean then transferred to Converse College in Spartanburg, SC, having earned a bachelor’s degree in Social Work. Fluent in Spanish, she took a job as a Social Worker with Walter Reed Hospital in Washington D.C. There she met her future husband, Vernon V. Bass M.D. who was an intern at that time. They married in 1951, moved to Saginaw, where Vernon would fulfill his residency and start a family. Vernon predeceased her on September 14, 1986. Jean was a member of First Presbyterian Church, The Saginaw Club and Saginaw Country Club. She remained active with the Saginaw County Medical Auxiliary, Saginaw Symphony, Saginaw Arts Museum and Michigan State Medical Society. She will be remembered for her honest, caring, forthright, generous and loving spirit.

Jean will be missed by her daughter, Jill Bass Day; grandchildren, Whitney Jean (Day) Facione and her spouse, Anthony Facione and Guy Bass Day; great grandchildren, Mila and Meadow Facione and Lucas Day. She was predeceased by her son, Jay Bass.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider the Covenant Healthcare Foundation.
