Loretta B. Wenzel

Loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and aunt, passed away on January 30, 2022 at the age of 94 years.

The daughter of the late Jacob and Minnie (Bock) Bachmann was born June 22, 1927, in Saginaw, Michigan. She married Clarence J. Wenzel November 6, 1948. He predeceased her September 20, 2007. After Clarence retired, he and Loretta loved to travel. They went to many different destinations and enjoyed going on cruises. Loretta was a wonderful mother. While her children were in school she was always very active in the PTA and classroom activities. Loretta was a former member of St. James Lutheran Church and an active member of Our Savior Lutheran. She often volunteered at her church. She was an avid reader and enjoyed knitting and crocheting.

Loretta is survived by her four children: Carol Unkel, Sally Perko, Brian Wenzel, Christopher (Jodi) Wenzel; seven grandchildren: Amanda LaTarte, Nicole (Andy) Godek, Matthew (Claire) Perko, Stephanie (Christopher) Koutz, Shawn Wenzel, Myah Wenzel, and Michelle (Brad) Doehring; seven great-grandchildren: Zachary, Taylor, Hannah, Elliott, Julia, David, and Natalie.

Loretta was preceded in death by Minnie Bachmann (Mother), Jacob Bachmann (Father), Clarence Wenzel (Spouse), two sons-in-law, Barry Unkel and Stephen Perko, and a niece that she raised Margaret Lanning, as well as her siblings.

The family would like to thank the staff at Peace of Mind AFC, especially Julia, Melissa, and Wendy, for the wonderful care they showed to Loretta while she lived there.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, February 7, 2022, at the W. L. Case and Company Funeral Chapel, 4480 Mackinaw Road. Her great-nephew, Rev. Bradley A. Smith will officiate with burial to follow in Roselawn Memorial Gardens. Friends and family will be received at the Chapel from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service.
