LaFrance II, Louis D. Merrill, MI Loving husband, father, grandfather and brother passed away on Saturday, November 1, 2014 at the age of 91 years. Louis was born in Detroit on September 23, 1923 to the late Louis and Grace (Kimbal) LaFrance. He married Evelyn Rigg on August 16, 1956 in Angola, IN; she survives him. Louis served in the U.S. Army and later retired from the Saginaw Furniture Shop. He also served as president of the local Teamsters Union. He enjoyed restoring classic and antique cars, playing euchre, and watching the Detroit Tigers, NASCAR, and classic western movies. Louis is survived by his wife of 58 years, Evelyn, and their children: Donna Jean Darnell, Louis D. (JoAnn) LaFrance III, Geraldine Martin, Linda (Ray) Holbrook, Sandra Gutierrez, 19 grandchildren, 45 great-grandchildren, 4 great-great grandchildren a brother, Morris LaFrance and many nieces, nephews and dear friends. He was predeceased by two daughters: Marilyn St. Denis, Cathie Perry, his brother Frederick LaFrance, and his sister Josephine Novak. Funeral service will take place at 3:00 p.m. Wednesday, November 5, 2014 at the W. L. Case and Company Funeral Chapel, Merrill. Pastor Lee Rhodes will officiate with military honors to follow. Friends may visit with the family on Wednesday at the funeral chapel from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the funeral service.
