Passed away Friday, February 28, 2014 at Covenant Harrison Hospital. Age 88 years.
Louis Kocsis was born in Saginaw on June 16, 1925, to the late Alexander and Elizabeth (Palla) Kocsis. He married Norma Miller on January 17, 1948, and she survives him. He served in the United States Navy during World War II. Louis was employed by Dow Chemical Company for 33 years, retiring in 1982. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, Western movies, and especially camping in Glennie, Michigan.
In addition to his loving spouse, Louis is survived by his son, Craig (Mary Anne) Kocsis; two grandchildren, Stacey Kocsis and Nicole (Chad) Fleming; five great-grandchildren, Falena, DeAndre, Olivia, Zoe, and Caden; a great, great-grandchild, Devin; two step-grandchildren, Eric and Anne Marie; three sisters, Mary Ann (Calvin) Morris, Helen (Marvin) Woodcock, and Betty Gerzney; and a brother, Carl Kocsis; a sister-in-law, Kathryn Pickard and her daughter Robin (Jim) Moulton. He was predeceased by three brothers, Zolton, Alex, and Steve.
Funeral service will take place 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, March 5, 2014, at the W. L. Case Chapel, 125 E. Saginaw St., Merrill, Michigan. The Rev. Richard Gossett will officiate with burial in Lakefield Township Cemetery with military honors by VFW Hemlock-Merrill, Post 7302. Friends may call at the W. L. Case Chapel in Merrill on Tuesday from 2:00 until 5:00 p.m. and 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. and on Wednesday from noon until the time of service. Those wishing to make an expression of sympathy may consider the Merrill Congregational Church.
