Louis “Lou” R. Hirschman of Tawas City, Michigan, formerly of Saginaw
Beloved father, brother, uncle, nephew, cousin, and friend passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, September 9, 2020, at his home in Tawas City. He was 69 years old. Louis Robert Hirschman was born on February 8, 1951, in Saginaw, Michigan, to the late Louis and Elaine D. (Colbeck) Hirschman. He was a 1969 graduate of Arthur Hill High School. Following graduation Lou began working for Baker Perkins for a couple of years. Lou proudly served his country by enlisting in the Army National Guard. He then began working as a machine operator with General Motors; retiring after 30 years of dedicated service. Upon retirement, Lou became the owner and operator of Seeking Higher Music, a company he created working as a booking agent for the music industry. He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles – Tawas Bay Area # 2588. Lou enjoyed the water and living on Lake Huron. He also enjoyed listening to music and restoring the various homes he owned over the years. Lou was a very strong supporter of Donald Trump for President. Above all, he loved and cherished his sister, brother, nieces and nephews, and his beloved cat Sophie. He also cherished the bond he held with his parents, especially his father who was his best friend. He will forever be remembered for being a loving and protective brother, for being selfless to anyone in need, and for being the glue that held the family together.
Surviving are a daughter, Nicole (Adam) Stewart of Norwich, CT; brother, Leo Ted (Michelle) Hirschman of Howell; sister, Louaine (Mike) Stevens of Bristol, IN; four nieces and two nephews: Aaron Hirschman, Elyse (Collen) Krueger, Louaine (Steven) Larey, Michelle (Tim) Boven, Melissa (Roberto) Arreola, Michael (Sarah) Stevens, 13 great-nieces and nephews; two great-great-nieces; two aunts, Louise Raymaker and Sandy Hirschman. Also surviving are many cousins, extended family, and friends.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Louis L. Hirschman.
A memorial service and military honors will take place at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 19, 2020, at the W. L. Case & Company Funeral Chapel, 4480 Mackinaw Road. Rev. Fr. Robert Byrne will officiate. Military honors will be rendered under the auspices of the United States Army and American Legion Post #439. Honoring Lou’s wishes cremation has taken place. Friends are welcome to visit with the family on Saturday from 1:00 p.m. until the time of the service at 3:00 p.m. Pursuant to the current state executive order, indoor building capacity is limited, face covers are required, and social distancing encouraged. In lieu of flowers, those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorials to the Wounded Warrior Project.
