Louise Anna Lane

Lane, Louise Anna Saginaw, Michigan Beloved wife, mother and sister passed away on Tuesday, September 10, 2013 at home at the age of 97 years. The daughter of the late John and Bertha (Brandt) Leipold was born on January 4, 1916 in Saginaw. Louise graduated from Arthur Hill High School with the Class of 1934, and was a member of the National Honors Society. She married John George Lane on October 30, 1937; he predeceased her on February 23, 1981. Louise graduated from the Saginaw General Hospital School of Nursing in 1937 and was a board certified Registered Nurse. At Saginaw General she was the night supervisor. In 1946, Louise also trained the nurse cadets for the military during World War II. On January 30, 1949, she was baptized and confirmed at St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church by Rev. Oscar Frey. In 1985, Louise retired from Saginaw General and got her certificate to work with hospice through St. Mary's. She was a member of Messiah Lutheran Church. Louise loved to sew and was a member of Piece Makers Quilt Club. She also enjoyed knitting, crocheting and spending time with her family. Surviving is her daughter Sally Ann Lane of Saginaw. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews including her special nieces: Maureen Tuck of Beaverton, Barbara (Bob) Baumgardner of Grayling, Patty (Chris) Picard of Saginaw, Mary (Dick) Bell of Bay City, and by her girlfriend, Lou Pahssen, who always called her "grandma". She was predeceased by her sister Caroline Markey and brother Herman Leipold. In accordance with Louise's wishes, cremation has taken place. Memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, September 28, 2013 at the W. L. Case and Co. Funeral Chapel, 4480 Mackinaw Rd. Rev. Daniel P. Garbow will officiate. Friends may visit from 9:30 a.m. Saturday until the time of the memorial services.
