Louise Eleanor Peters Saginaw, Michigan
Quietly passed away at home in the arms of her husband John, on Tuesday, June 6, 2017, age 83 years. She was born on November 6, 1933, daughter of the late Arthur and Marilda (Whelton) Winterstein, in Saginaw. Louise grew up in Hemlock and was a graduate of Arthur Hill High School. She met her future husband while working at Robertsons Laundry. They were married on July 17, 1954, while John was on a three day leave from the U.S. Army. They raised their family in Saginaw and once the children were out of school, Louise worked as a manager for the Carter Shop and later retired from JC Penney. She enjoyed volunteering for the Serrv Shop at First Congregational Church, where she was a member. Louise survived breast cancer in 2002 and was later diagnosed with Muscular Dystrophy. As her movement became more restricted, she enjoyed watching the wide variety of birds in her yard. She prided herself on her thriftiness and money management. She enjoyed doing special things for family and friends, such as baking cookies and always having an afterschool snack for her great granddaughter when she got off the bus.
Louise is survived by John Peters, her loving husband of 62 years; her children, Katherine Lange, David (Janie) Peters and Jody Peters; grandchildren, Sarah Lange and Christopher (Jennifer) Lange, great grandchildren, Hannah Billmeier, Ava Lange and Aidan Weaver; brother, Norman (Ruth) Winterstein; sisters-in-law, Margaret Winterstein, Marilyn Winterstein and Catherine Konn; special friends, Faisal Meerzo, Doris and Bud Tunney, Bob Lange and many others. She was predeceased by her sons, Charles and Gary Peters, siblings, Phyllis, Bernard, Arthur and Lester Winterstein. The family would like to extend their appreciation to Primary Home Care for their excellent service in her final days. Funeral service will take place at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, June 9, 2017 at W. L. Case and Company, 4480 Mackinaw Road. Robert Lange will officiate with burial in Eastlawn Memorial Gardens. Friends may visit with the family from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service. Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider the Friends of the Shiawassee NWR in care of the Louise Peters Memorial Fund, U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, 6975 Mower Rd.
