Swartzendruber, Lowell Thomas, age 80, of Saginaw passed away Wednesday, March 28, 2018. He was born, April 20, 1937, in Bay Port MI. He is survived by Margaret Morgan his wife of 57 years, daughter Saun Keller of Harbor Beach, Lowell Jr. (Tom) and wife Judy Swartz of Ionia, daughter Sonia Swartzendruber of Millington, and granddaughters Sarah and Sabrina. He is preceded in death by his parents Thomas Rutherford and Dorothy Catherine Swartzendruber, and sister Rosie. He is also survived by sister Joyce (Olin) Gunden of Pigeon and brother Gary Swartzendruber of Salina, KS. He graduated from Pigeon High School in 1955 then worked at Dow Chemical for 3 years. He earned a Bachelor of Education from Eastern Michigan, a Master of Education from Pennsylvania State University, and post masters credits at Iowa State University. He taught math at Douglas MacArthur and Eisenhower High Schools. He was an avid gardener, motorcyclist, bicyclist with Tri-City Cyclist, daily mall walker, blood and plasma donor (28+ gallons), and beekeeper with the Saginaw Valley Beekeepers Association. He became a Cessna pilot at age 66. He was a volunteer projectionist at the Delta College Planetarium for several years and a volunteer driver for Michigan Blood for 18 years. He will be remembered for his kindness and humble heart. Above all, he was a dedicated and loving husband, father, and grandfather.
