Returned to her heavenly home to be with her Lord and Savior on Friday, December 15, 2017. Known for her devotion to her family and friends, she was 93 years of age. Lucille Joy Bowen was born January 15, 1924, in East Tawas to the late Bramwell and Clara (Bloomer) Bowen. While it was still situated in an old house, she attended East Tawas High School and where one year she was elected Snow Queen. She thereafter obtained her license as an LPN from St. Marys Hospital and worked there for over 30 years in the Intensive Care and Critical Care Units. She married Richard M. Savage in 1946 and retired from her employment in 1983 in order to care for him. Richard predeceased her in 1986. She then married Ernest Arnett in 1990 and he predeceased her in 2006. Lucille was a well-rounded individual who was very active and was engaged in a wide variety of pursuits. She loved to applique and quilt; enjoyed winter activities like skating, skiing and especially tobogganing with her grandchildren; and in warmer months, she loved to bicycle, be on the farm, and have family and friends over to enjoy her swimming pool. Lucille was a clown minister for the Trinity Wesleyan Church Youth Ministry and the children adored "Curly" as she was known. She was a devout member of the Reorganized Church of the Latter Day Saints and later the Trinity Wesleyan Church in Midland. Lucille is survived three children, Lucille Joy (Larry) Teal, Eva M. (Richard) Robinson, and Richard M. (Janet) Savage, Jr.; ten grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; a great, great-grandchild; and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by two children, Kenneth Gerald Savage and Charles Robert Savage; and four siblings, Edson Bowen, Gerald C. Bowen, Myrle K. Bowen, and Violet M. Cater. Funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, December 20, 2017, at the W. L. Case Funeral Chapel, 201 N. Miller Road. Pastor Luke Hansen will officiate with burial in Roselawn Memorial Gardens. Friends may visit with the family at the Chapel on Tuesday from 2:00 until 8:00 p.m. and on Wednesday from 12:00 noon until the time of service.
