Lucy Lilly Wale of Merrill, Michigan
Beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend passed away unexpectedly at her home on Sunday, April 3, 2022. She was 94 years old. Lucy Wallace was born on August 5, 1927, in Colwood, Michigan, to the late Benjamin and Viola Louise (Scholtz) Wallace. She was a graduate of Breckenridge High School. Lucy married the love of her life, JB Wale, on March 23, 1947; he preceded her in death on September 30, 2016. She was a faithful longtime member of Merrill Congregational Church. Lucy enjoyed quilting and crocheting, creating many beautiful quilts over the years. She was a superb baker and understood the special ingredient to making anything taste good, especially her cookies, was love. Above all, Lucy loved and cherished her family, especially spending time with her grandchildren. Though she could be stubborn, she left her indelible mark in this world through her selflessness and kindness to all she loved and those she's taken in as part of her family throughout her life.
Surviving are five children and their spouses: James and Mary Wale of Merrill; David R. and Marie Wale of Merrill; Margaret and Duane Miller of Wheeler; Brian and Brenda Wale of Merrill; Jay (Ann Marie) Wale of Merrill; 18 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great-grandchildren; sister, Bertha VanSteenhouse of FL; brother, Albert Griffen of Deford. Also surviving are many nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Diane Emard; five sisters: Marie, Alice, Sue, Amelia, Ruth; and an infant brother.
