Madeline L. "Mer" (Mantz) Lodge

Our cherished “Mer,” grandma, sister, aunt, and friend sadly passed away on Monday, October 21, 2024, at the age of 90 years old.

The daughter of the late Otto and Emma (Nauman) Mantz, Madeline was born on September 11, 1934, in Brooklyn, NY. She married Richard Lodge in 1977 and they shared 46 wonderful years together: he predeceased her on October 9, 2023. Madeline proved herself to be multitalented over the years, with a wide variety of jobs from butcher to waitress to ceramic shop owner. She retired at the tender age of 74 to stay home with her loving husband.

Madeline is survived by her sisters: Pandora (Mantz) Toland, Tina (Mantz) Krayewski; children: Scott (Lyn) Fink, Pam Snyder, Larry Costin, Nikki Payton, Michele (Randy) Nolf, Eric Costin; grandchildren: Sarah Snyder, Bill Hayes, Scott and Micah Freiberg, Brandi and Rachelle Slater, Malik Costin-Payton, Brazil Payton; great-grandchildren: Ethan, Garrett, Alex, and Jack Hayes, Savannah Slater; dear friends: Duane Slater and Ines Novak. Also surviving are many cherished nieces and nephews.

Along with her parents, Madeline is preceded in death by her daughter Madeleine LaFlure, brothers: Otto, Bill, Ronald, Patty, Frankie Mantz; sister Joan Sharkey, and grandchildren Sherry LaFlure and Bob Hayes.

Madeline will be laid to rest with a private ceremony at Forest Lawn Cemetery.
