Madelon R. Curtis, age 85 years, passed away Sunday, February 25, 2018, at Covenant Medical Center from medical complications. She was surrounded by her children that she held so dear. Madelon was a loving mother, sister, grandmother, aunt and friend to many. Madelon had a giving heart and a passion for crocheting afghans for those in need. In recent years, she had crocheted and donated over 300 afghans to the Underground Railroad and the Veterans Hospital. She also loved to give them to family and friends. Madelon loved to play cards, hang out with loved ones, and hunt for garage sales. Madelon will be missed for her candid stories, strong will and independent spirit. Madelon leaves behind her three children: Glenda Stimpson of Jackson, MI; Gary (Heather) Curtis of Freeland, MI; Georgene (Duane) Ickes of Saginaw, MI; sister: Patricia Miller; grandchildren: Patricia, John, and Kristin Stimpson, Gary Marr, Haley Hughes, Emily Curtis, Benjamin and Nicholas Whittier; great-grandchildren: Parker, Tyler and Ashley; several beloved nieces and nephews, and many treasured friends. Madelon was predeceased by her parents, Charles and Edna (Sayan) Powell; cherished sisters: Marjorie Hull, Catherine Near and Charlotte Chapman; son-in-law, John Stimpson; and many beloved nieces and nephews.
