Margaret Bethel Monk St. Louis, Michigan Very loving mother, grandmother, sister and friend went to be with the Lord, Sunday, January 10, 2016, surrounded by her family. Age 96 years. The daughter of the late Orville and Myrtle Mae (Washburn) Barnett was born July 23, 1919 in Ralph, Michigan. She married George Monk, December 3, 1938. He passed away August 2003. Margaret was a caring and generous person who enjoyed making hand sewn quilts for her family, cooking for loved ones and helping friends who were home-bound in her community. She also enjoyed visiting and playing euchre with Foods with Friends in Breckenridge. Surviving are three sons, one daughter, George Monk; Margaret Pershing both of St. Louis, MI; Robert Monk, Merrill, MI; William Monk, AuGres, MI; twenty grandchildren; thirty-five great grandchildren; six great-great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. She was also predeceased by a son, Melvin Monk; her precious great grandson, Nathan Monk; three brothers and one sister, George, John and Levi DeVerney and Lorraine Waller. The funeral liturgy will take place at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, January 13, 2016, at St. John XXIII, Sacred Heart Parish, in Merrill. Rev. Fr. Lawrence Bocks will officiate with cremation to follow. Friends may call at the W. L. Case and Co. Funeral Chapel in Merrill from 2:00-8:00 p.m. Tuesday and then at the Church on Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the funeral liturgy.
