Margaret Hammis

Beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and aunt passed away surrounded by her family on March 12, 2021. Age 86 years.
Margaret was born September 11, 1934, in Saginaw, the daughter of the late Edward and Mary Sova. She graduated from Holy Family High School and she married Philip L. Hammis on May 5, 1956. He predeceased her on March 17, 2017. She was a devoted wife and mother and was a homemaker who enjoyed caring for her family. Her children and grandchildren were her pride and joy and she recently became a great-grandmother. She spent summers with family and friends at their cottage on Townline Lake. Margaret was a member of St. Dominic Parish, St. Stephen Catholic Church.
Surviving are her four children, Lori A. Hammis, Gregory (Cathy) Hammis, Janet (James) Dey, all of Saginaw; and Marc (Kris) Hammis, Fenton; six grandchildren, Nicholas (Allie) and Ryan Hammis; Bradley (fiancé Emily) and Katie Margaret Dey; Sydney and Dylan Hammis; one great-grandson, Camden Hammis, many nieces and nephews and their families; brother-in-laws and sister-in-laws, Patricia Hammis, James (Carolyn) Hammis, Elaine (Tom) Rau, Diana Garno, Joanne Rivette and Meg Hammis. She was predeceased by her sister & brother-in-law Mary & James Ward and brother-in-laws and sister-in-laws, Keith Hammis, George (Nancy) Hammis, David Hammis and Donald Garno. The family would like to thank Diane Schneider, for the loving care she gave Margaret.
Funeral Liturgy will take place at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, March 17, 2021 at St. Dominic Parish, St. Stephen Catholic Church, 2711 Mackinaw Street. Rev. Fr. Steven Gavit will officiate. Margaret's family will receive friends at W.L. Case Funeral Home, 4480 Mackinaw from 4:00 - 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, March 16, 2021. Family and friends may then gather at the church on Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the funeral liturgy. Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider St. Dominic Parish Food Pantry or Christ the King/St. Francis de Sales Parish, Lakeview, MI. In accordance with the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services ordinance, indoor capacity is limited to 25 persons, face coverings are required, and social distancing encouraged. We appreciate everyone’s efforts to reduce the spread of covid-19 in our community.
