Margaret Ann Ojczyk of Hemlock, Michigan
Beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother passed away peacefully with her family by her side on Saturday, December 3, 2022, at Shields Comfort Care. She was 94 years old. Margaret Ann Foy was born on August 18, 1928, in Hemlock, Michigan, to the late Charles and Cecilia (Cawley) Foy. She was a proud 1946 graduate of Hemlock High School. Margaret met the love of her life, Donald Ojczyk, while at a dance at the Golden Glow Ballroom. They dated, fell in love, and were united in marriage on April 15, 1950, at St. Mary Catholic Church in Hemlock; he preceded her in death on May 11, 2008. The role of her lifetime was to be a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. She was a longtime, faithful, and active member of St. John XXIII Parish - St. Mary Catholic Church where she participated in the choir. Margaret was an avid reader and was a member of a local book club. She was considered by many to be the local historian for Hemlock. Margaret enjoyed cooking, but baking was her passion. Family gatherings were often centered at her home with family visiting her mother, Cecilia, and nobody ever left the home hungry. Her little piece of heaven was getting her vanilla coffee lattes every day from McDonalds. Margaret will forever be remembered for her independence, doing things her own way, for her kind and selfless spirit, always rooting for the underdog, and for truly living an amazing life filled with many beautiful memories and stories.
Surviving are five children: Kathy (Larry) Erskine of Waconia, MN; Nancy (Mark) LaVine of Wixom; Donna (Tom) Basner of Freeland; Joe (Cindy) Ojczyk of White Bear Lake, MN; and Jennifer (Bill) LeClair of Hemlock; 12 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren. Also surviving are many nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald; parents Charles and Cecilia Foy; and eight siblings: Bernard, Francis, Marle, Eileen, Robert, Leo, Helen, and Tommy.
A Funeral Liturgy will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, December 10, 2022, at St. John XXIII Parish, St. Mary Catholic Church, 151 St. Marys Drive in Hemlock. Rev. Fr. Michael F. Steltenkamp S.J. will officiate. Rite of Committal will follow at St. Mary Cemetery. Friends are welcome to visit with the family at the church on Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service. In lieu of flowers, those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorials to St. John XXIII Parish. Please share your thoughts and memories with the family at the church or through www.casefuneralhome.com.
