Maria D. Rueda

Saginaw, Michigan Beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother passed away Friday April 15, 2016 at the age of 74 years. Maria was born October 1, 1941 in Castroville, Texas, the daughter of the late Fred and Inez Garcia. She married Rudolph "Rudy" Rueda April 1, 1961. He predeceased her July 25, 1994. Maria was a 1961 graduate of Saginaw High School. She later graduated from Saginaw Valley State College. Maria retired from Buena Vista School District following many years of service. She was an active member of St. Joseph Catholic Church. Maria loved teaching the Mexican culture to her students; she loved all Michigan sport teams including Michigan State. Surviving are her children, Rudolph H. (Stacy) Rueda Jr., Cynthia Rueda, Stefanie Wood and Valerie Rueda; 15 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; loving sister Frances Oviedo; brother Thomas (Diana) Garcia; sisters-in-law Lydia Gamez and Irene Vargas; many nieces and nephews and other special friends including Olivia Flores and Angie Jimenez; her many adopted children and grandchildren. Maria was predeceased by a grandson; Lonnie Wood Jr., granddaughter Crystal Rueda, sister Alicia Mata, sister-in-law Eleanor Robelin, brothers-in-law, Manuel Rueda Sr., Frank Oviedo Sr. and Pedro Vargas, Carlos Mata and Richard Robelin. The family would like to extend a special thank you to Covenant Cooper 3rd Floor East, Covenant Rehabilitation and also to Jackie, Deborah and Debbie of Covenant VNA. Funeral liturgy will take place 10:00 a.m. Friday April 22, 2016 at St. Joseph Catholic Church 936 N. 6th street. Rev. Frank Voris O.F.M., Cap will officiate. Interment will follow at Mt. Olivet Cemetery. Friends may call at the W.L. Case and Company Funeral Chapel 4480 Mackinaw Rd. from Thursday from 2:00 to 8:00 p.m. where family and friends will meet for a parish vigil service at 7:00p.m., and then at the church on Friday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the Mass.
