Maria Delaluz Garcia Grunwell passed away on Saturday, November 28, 2020 at her home; with her family at her side; at the age of 71 years.

“Lucy”, as she was affectionately called, was born August 8, 1949 in Saginaw, Michigan to Felix and Carmen Garcia. She resided in Saginaw her most of her life. She previously lived in Missouri & Kentucky with her husband who was in the Army. Lucy never had it easy in life. But she found her greatest blessings within her children. Together with Dawn & Cristal they were the dearest of friends to each other. They would go to the thrift stores, restaurants, and to her favorite place in the world St Ignace. She loved telling them that she was no “punk”.

She is survived by her daughters: DawnMarie (Chris) Grunwell and Cristal Grunwell who were at their Moms side through all of her life’s ups and downs; four grandchildren: Letrisha & Antoine Green, Charles Grunwell IV, Desirae Grunwell, and Camden Grunwell; eight great-grandsons: Antoine, Marcelous, Sincere, Carmelo and Rayne Green; Charles V, Jayden and Jeremiah Grunwell; brothers and sisters:Sally Garcia, Janie (Oscar) Gomez, Lidia & John Luna, Theresa (Cruz) Chingman, Martin (Liz) Garcia, Ruben Garcia and Johnny Garcia; brother and sisters-in-law: Brian Grunwell, Gloria Garcia and MaryAnn Garcia, Lucy always said they were more brother and sisters than in laws; very dear nieces: Sheila, Erika and Diana Martinez who have always been there for her through thick or thin. Though she is gone from this life she will live on forever through her children and grandchildren.

Lucy was greeted in heaven by her one & only son Charles H. Grunwell III, he was truly her Mama’s Boy and as her daughters would tell her he was her favorite child; nephew: Joaquin Martinez, whom she loved like a son; brothers and sisters: Rosie Martinez, Felix Garcia, Umberto Garcia, and Carlos Garcia; sisters-in-law: Linda Toole, Pamela Grunwell, nephew: Valentino Garcia.

Visitation will take place from 3:00 – 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, December 1, 2020 at W. L. Case and Company Funeral Chapel, 4480 Mackinaw Road, Saginaw. In accordance with the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services ordinance, indoor capacity is limited to 25 persons, face coverings are required and social distancing is encouraged.
