Marion Scott Remer Crouthamel

Crouthamel, Marion Scott Remer Saginaw, Michigan Passed away peacefully late Friday, October 27, 2017, at Meadowview Manor, at the age of 91 years. Marion Scott Remer was born June 7, 1926, in Saginaw, the daughter of Margaret Malcolm Remer and Clarence Remer. Marion graduated from Arthur Hill High School before attending Colby Junior College in New London, New Hampshire. She received a Bachelor of Arts Degree from Washburn University of Topeka then went on to attend Smith College where she majored in English. She received her Masters in Elementary Education from Harvard University. She taught several years in Lincoln and Concord, Massachusetts before returning to Saginaw where she taught at Chippewa Middle School and then taught English and Literature at Douglas MacArthur High School. She had been a life-long member of First Presbyterian Church. She participated in numerous Harvard University Alumni Association programs, including many opportunities to tour the world. Marion also loved literature and the great outdoors. She married James Leon Crouthamel, PhD, on June 27, 1985; he predeceased her March 9, 2003. Surviving Marion are several cousins in the Malcolm and Remer families. She is also survived by James's three sons and families: Tim and Tommie Crouthamel, of Towanda, IL, and their daughter, Olivia; Andrew and Cynthia Crouthamel, of Normal, IL, and their children, Aidan, Cate and Will; and Justin and Gina Crouthamel, of Bloomington, IL, and their son, Jeremy. Funeral service will take place at 4:00 p.m. on Monday, November 6, 2017, at First Presbyterian Church, 121 S. Harrison Street, Saginaw, where friends may gather from 3:00 p.m. Monday until the time of service. Rev. Ted McCulloch will officiate. Marion's friends and family extend warm appreciation and gratitude to the staff of Meadowview Manor and Wellspring Lutheran Services for their years of loving care. Private committal services will take place in Oakwood Cemetery.
