Marjorie Agnes Frey
Saginaw, Michigan
Passed into eternal life on Monday, March 10, 2025. Marjorie was born May 25, 1923, in Saginaw, Michigan. A lifelong member of St. John Lutheran Church, she was baptized into the faith on July 1, 1923, confirmed on May 10, 1936, and graduated from Michigan Lutheran Seminary on June 7, 1940.
“Marj” lived the last seven years of her exceptionally long life at the Hoyt Nursing Home, where she was an inspirational example of good humor, Christian endurance, and unwavering faith in her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Her lifelong services to her church included positions as organist, secretary, Sunday School teacher, Bible Class leader and nursing home volunteer. Before her retirement from Wickes Lumber in 1988, Marjorie enjoyed a lengthy and noteworthy career in the Saginaw Trucking industry, beginning with her first job as a billing clerk at Doyle Freight Lines, back in 1941. In 1969, she was the first woman to be promoted to Office Manager of the Traffic Dept. at Great Lakes Express.
In addition to her full-time career and volunteer work, Marjorie was an accomplished world traveler and entertained her family with slide shows of her many trips abroad. She was also a frequent attender of many concert and theater productions in the Saginaw area, with great love for classical music.
Marjorie was predeceased by her parents, Rev. Oscar George and Emma Pauline (Marzke) Frey and her siblings, sisters, Charlotte (Rev. Conrad) Frey and Muriel Frey, and brothers, Rev. George (Ilene) Frey, Rev. Raymond (Ethel) Frey, Rev. Edwin (Ruth) Frey, and Rev. Theodore (Dorothy)Frey. She is survived by her much-loved nieces and nephews, which include, Philip (Adrienne)Frey, Catherine Puchala, Gary (Viola) Frey, Janet (Rev. Martin) Schoell, Paula (Kim) Armbrecht, Susan (Lance) Wice, Karen Frey, Deborah Nevils, Rev. James Frey, Linda Frey and many great and great great nieces and nephews. She was also predeceased by nephews, Timothy Frey and Thomas Frey.
The funeral service will take place at Noon Monday, March 17, 2025, at St. John Ev. Lutheran Church, 4705 Brockway Rd. Saginaw. Rev. Andy Retberg will officiate with interment in DeWitt city cemetery. Friends may visit with family from 10:00 a.m. Monday until the time of the funeral service.
