Simerson, Marjorie Mae Merrill, Michigan
Aged 85, passed away in her home after a lingering illness on March 10, 2013.
She was born November 15, 1927, in Middleville, Michigan the daughter of James Carson and Maude (Wagoner) Buckey. She attended Arthur Hill High School and graduated in 1945 and then married Robert A. Church on September 11, 1945. They had two children. Robert Church died on May 22, 1949 from lingering effects of a childhood illness. Marjorie married Galen L. Simerson on May 7, 1950 and they had three children. He passed away on August 10, 1986. Marjorie helped support her family by working as a waitress and in a Saginaw furniture factory. She had many interests and pursuits throughout her life. These included cooking and baking for family affairs, playing any kind of card game, crocheting and knitting, gardening, canning, camping, road trips, fishing, deer hunting, reading and old westerns on TV. She was always first in line when those in the family needed help or support. She will be sorely missed by family and friends.
Marjorie had four brothers who passed previously. They are Kenneth Buckey of Scottsdale, Arizona; Orin Buckey of Saginaw, Michigan; Don Buckey of Saginaw and Arnold (Bob) Buckey of Saginaw. Two sisters-in-law also preceded her in death, Marion (Kenneth) Buckey of Scottsdale, Arizona and Florinda "Sis" (Orin) Buckey. She is survived by a sister, Maxine (Adelbert) Davis of Saginaw and two sisters-in-law, Nan (Don) Buckey and Viola (Bob) Buckey. Marjorie is also survived by her children and their spouses: Gary and Mary (Kocks) Church of Traverse City, Randall and Virginia (Powell) Church of Birch Run, Marlene (Simerson) and Carson Lonsway of Merrill, Galen and Mary Simerson of Merrill, and Dawn (Simerson) Holcomb of Saginaw. She is also survived by seven grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren and many in-laws, nieces and nephews.
Funeral service will take place at 11:00 a.m. Friday, March 15, 2013, at the W. L. Case & Company Funeral Chapel, 201 N. Miller Road, where her family will receive friends from 2:00 - 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, and then on Friday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service.
