Mark Clarence Caswell

SFC Mark C. Caswell, Bay City, age 66, passed away February 8, 2025, at the VA Hospital in Ann Arbor, after a long battle with leukemia. Mark is survived by his wife, Dorothy, with whom he shared 40 years of marriage, five children: Debbie (Bobby) Wilson, Mary (Brian) Recktenwald, Eli Gingrich, Jeff Caswell, and Nick Caswell. He also leaves behind three siblings: Sandy, Darlene, and Dale Caswell; and five grandchildren.

He is the son of Ruth (VanHooydonk) and the late Clarence Caswell. As a child Mark learned to work on cars with his father and in return Mark taught his son Eli. Mark had a passion for antique cars, eventually owning one and had a hobby of building model cars. Mark was a hardworking devoted man, always putting his family first. He had a big heart and was always willing to help anyone in need. Mark enjoyed new adventures on his motorcycle , camping, hiking, bowling and baseball.  

Mark is a veteran of 36 years stationed in Spain, Australia, Korea, Germany, twice in Iraq and Kuwait. On the state side, Kansas and New York, the remaining time Mark served in the National Guard. Mark has earned several Medals and commendations for his dedication and bravery. Mark grew up in Rochester, New York. He graduated in 1977 from Greece Central Schools, Arcadia High. He also attended Delta College in Saginaw, Michigan receiving an associate degree in Criminal Justice. He was a member of the Phi Theta Kappa and was in the Honors Program, receiving the President Award for Academic Excellence.  

Funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm on Sunday, February 16, 2025, at W. L. Case and Company, 4480 Mackinaw Road, Saginaw, MI. Military Honors to follow under the auspices of the United States Army. Cremation will follow services. Friends are welcome to visit with the family at the funeral chapel from 11:00 am - 4:00 pm on Saturday as well as Sunday from 1:00 pm until the time of service.
