Martin Herman Preuss

Went to his heavenly home to be with his Lord and Savior on June 13, 2018, at the age of 89. Martin was born on July 1, 1928 in Hemlock, Michigan and lived there most of his life. His parents were Henry and Helena (Wardin) Preuss of Hemlock. Also preceding him in death were his brother Carl Preuss and his sister Eleanor Preuss. He served with the United States Army in the Korean Theater from 1950-1952 at the 38th Parallel where much of the fighting took place, but the Lord was with him and he returned home, untouched from harm. He worked at the Dow Chemical Company (Midland, MI) from 1952-1984. From 1985 to 2007, he worked for W.L. Case & Company (Saginaw, MI). He was a lifetime member of the V.F.W. Post #7302 (Hemlock, MI) and also a member of the American Legion Post #0165 (Midland, MI). Martin was a lifelong member of St. Peter Lutheran Church (Hemlock, MI), where he served in various positions for 35 years. Martin also volunteered many years of service with Michigan Community Blood Center, Midland Center for the Arts, Midland County Council on Aging, Mid-Michigan Health (Midland, MI), and Riverside Place where Martin and Elaine have resided for over 16 years. Martin married Elaine Wolgast on November 1, 1953 and she survives him. He also leaves 3 children, Loren and Wendy Preuss of Clarksville, TN, Sandy and Dan Britton of Conklin, MI, and Paul and Kathy Preuss of Duluth, GA. He also leaves 8 grandchildren as well as 9 great grandchildren. Visitation will be at W.L. Case & Co., 201 N. Miller Rd., Saginaw, on Friday, June 15, 2018 from 2-4pm and 6-8pm. Funeral Service will take place on Saturday, June 16, 2018 at 11:00am at St. Peter Lutheran Church, 2461 N. Raucholz Rd., Hemlock, MI with Dr. William Morris officiating, with burial in Richland Lutheran Cemetery. Visitation will also be from 10:00-10:45am prior to funeral service.
