Martin Rodney Niersel

Niersel, Martin Rodney Hemlock, Michigan Passed away Friday, January 03, 2014 at Covenant Healthcare, age 63 years. Marty was born in Saginaw, Michigan May 23, 1950 the son of the late Robert F. and Alice C. (Doerr) Niersel. He served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting and fishing. Marty is survived by four children, Jennifer (Steve) Shaffer, Jeffrey (Crystal) Niersel, Kate (Sean) Totch and Kurt Niersel; five grandchildren, Emily, Nathan, Steven, Rebecca and Tyler; his significant other, Carolana Gordon; two brothers, Ken (Mary) Niersel and Chuck (Wanda) Niersel; six nieces and nephews, Todd, Tyson, Teresa, Zach, Cassie and Clay; several great-nieces and great-nephews. The funeral service will take place 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, January 7, 2014 at W. L. Case & Company, 201 N. Miller Rd. Rev. Rob Richards will officiate with burial in Roselawn Memorial Gardens with military services under the auspices of the Hemlock-Merrill VFW Post. Friends may visit with the family at the chapel Monday from 2:00 8:00 p.m. and Tuesday from 10:00 a.m. until time of the service.
