Mary Dorey

Mary (Kanzig) Dorey Saginaw, Michigan Passed away peacefully of old age and complications from Alzheimer's in the early morning hours of Saturday, April 8, 2017, at the Avista (Heartland) Nursing and Rehab Center. Mary was born to the parents of Edward and Alice (Whitman) Kanzig on September 21, 1922 in Saginaw. Mary married Raymond Dorey on April 8, 1939; he predeceased her in 1999. Mary was an active member of the community. She was a cook at the Picnic restaurant in Saginaw and the Skyway (Sky Harbor) airport in Phoenix, AZ. She was a school bus driver in Saginaw and was a founding member and first President of the local driver's Union. Mary is survived by her son Dennis Dorey, her daughter in-law Linda Dorey and her three grandsons Kevin (Annette Rocholl) Dorey, Mark (Shannon) Daly, Brian (Tracy Golz) Daly, three great grandchildren Susan Mary Watts, Jessica Daly, Kayla Daly and two great great grandchildren Alex Dorey and Ethan Watts. Besides her husband Raymond Dorey she was predeceased by her son Keith Dorey, daughter in law Louella Dorey and her grandsons Keith and Chris Dorey. She was the last surviving sibling of seven. Her siblings were Hank Kanzig, Ed Kanzig, Lavera King, Eva Fox, Connie Savage and Maxine Richmond. The family would like to thank the staff at Avista Nursing and Rehab center.
