Mary Frances Spaeth of Hemlock, Michigan
Beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother passed away peacefully on Thursday, October 3, 2019, at Bickford Assisted Living. She was 97 years old. Mary Frances Maturen was born on February 9, 1922, in St. Charles, Michigan, to the late Fred and Thelma (Allen) Maturen. She married her high school sweetheart and the love of her life, Bernard E. Spaeth on April 18, 1938; he preceded her in death on June 3, 2007. Mary enjoyed crafting, particularly crocheting and knitting. She also enjoyed canning and taking care of her beloved cats and dogs. Above all she loved and cherished her family, especially coloring with all of her grandchildren. She will forever be remembered for her love, caring, and kindness to all that knew her.
Surviving are two sons and their wives: Duanne and Sharon Spaeth of Freeland; Wayne and Amy Spaeth of Merrill; 12 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; and 18 great-great-grandchildren. Also surviving are many nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Norma Jean (Dr. Charles) Fillippini; a great-grandson, Jason Balger; five sisters; one brother.
A funeral service will take place at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 10, 2019, at the W. L. Case and Company Funeral Chapel, 201 N. Miller Rd. Rev. Robert Richards will officiate. Entombment will follow at Oakwood Mausoleum. Friends are welcome to visit with the family at the funeral chapel on Thursday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service at 1:00 p.m. Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorials to a charity of the donors choice.
