Temple, Mary Helen. 68 years old. Freeland, Michigan.
Mary passed from this life all too soon on Friday November 8, 2013 at Covenant Hospital after a brief battle with cancer.
Born in Spartanburg, South Carolina on October 13, 1945, Mary was the middle daughter of Harold and Catherine Giesecke. Mary attended Arthur Hill High School in Saginaw, where her father was the principal, graduating with the Class of 1963. After high school, she attended Delta College where she met and fell in love with Allan "Ben" Temple. The couple later married on June 26, 1965 and made their home in Saginaw, moving out to the country in the 1970s after beginning a family and building their dream home together.
Mary lived life to the fullest, and besides loving and raising her three children as a homemaker, partook in a number of other interests and hobbies. This included her love of animals, dogs especially, fishing and camping with her family, quilting and gardening, and garage-saling. Mary was also an avid "gamer," playing hours of video games with her grandchildren, and enjoyed reading and watching murder mysteries.
Mary was survived by her husband Ben, two sisters, Paula Lichon and Lisa Giesecke, one sister-in-law, Pauline Pitcher, her three children, Benjamin Scott Temple (Jodi), Douglas Harold Temple (Sandy), and Katherine Elizabeth Ellison (Philip), her five grandchildren, Katarina Temple, Nicole Ennest, Kalen Warner, Frederick Temple, and Casandra Kareus, as well as two great grandchildren. Mary also leaves behind a large fur family of shelties and many close friends and relatives, including a very special niece, Trudy McLain.
Following cremation, the family will hold a private service in celebration of Mary's life. Arrangements by W. L. Case and Company Funeral Directors. www.casefuneralhome.com
