Maryellen C. Walker of Saginaw, Michigan
Beloved daughter, granddaughter, girlfriend, niece, cousin, and friend passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, July 5, 2020, as a result of injuries sustained in a motorcycle accident. She was 29 years old. Maryellen Connie Walker, affectionately known as “Jersey” and “Philly”, was born on August 28, 1990, in Secaucus, New Jersey, to Mary Ellen and Brian Oldenburg. As a young girl and throughout adulthood, she had a passion for reading, especially books regarding archeology. Maryellen loved reading so much she’s kept every single book she’s ever read. She was a proud 2008 graduate of Heritage High School. Following graduation, Maryellen began pursuing her lifelong dream of becoming an archeologist by attending Delta College. She graduated in December 2013 with an Associate’s Degree in Business Management. Maryellen was employed as a manager with the Shoe Department Encore for many years. Besides reading, she also enjoyed listening to music and spending time with everyone she loved. Maryellen will forever be remembered for her outgoing and adventurous personality, for being a woman of great strength, and for always being the sweet, kind, and caring soul she was born to be.
Surviving are her parents, Mary Ellen and Brian Oldenburg of Saginaw; grandmother, Connie Coleman of Saginaw; great-aunt, Margret Wanless of Saginaw; two uncles: Marc Coleman of Saginaw; Tony (Sharon) Dijak of Saginaw; four cousins: Heather (Derrick) Kage of Hemlock; Nick (Tamra) Dijak of Saginaw; Derek Coleman of Ypsilanti; and Nate (Bailey Heading) Coleman of Saginaw; and her beloved boyfriend and soul mate, David Rousseau of Midland.
Also surviving are many extended family and dear friends. She was preceded in death by her brother, Eric Scott Walker; grandparents: Kitty and Brooks Walker, Lloyd Vasold; and her aunt, Bridget Coleman.
A private family funeral service will take place at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday, July 11, 2020, at the W. L. Case & Company Funeral Chapel, 4480 Mackinaw Road. Pastoral Minister, Sharon Wahl will officiate. Honoring her family’s wishes, cremation will follow the service. Family and friends are welcome to visit at funeral chapel on Friday, July 10, 2020, from 1:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and on Saturday from 1:30 p.m. until the time of the service. Due to restrictions set forth by the State of Michigan and the worldwide health pandemic, all visitors are required to wear a face covering and practice social distancing. In lieu of flowers, those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorials to Maryellen’s family to be used for hospital expenses incurred by her boyfriend, David Rousseau.
