Galbraith, Max W. Hemlock, MI Beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother-in-law and uncle, passed away Wednesday, February 17, 2016, at the age of 76 years. He was born August 8, 1939, in Flint, the son of the late John and Catherine (Barnes) Galbraith. He grew up in Cummins, Michigan, graduating from Cummins High School. He received his Bachelor of Education and Master of Educational Administration degrees from Central Michigan University. He had served with the US Army. Max began his career as a teacher at Pinconning High School, and after one year, went in to administration at Pinconning and then Essexville-Hampton School Districts, retiring in 1994 after 30 years of service. He was a member of St. John XXIII Parish, St. Mary Church, Hemlock. He was very active in the Essexville and later Hemlock Lions Clubs, the B.P.O.E. Lodge #88 in Essexville, and the Brant Gun Club. He was a member of various local and state education associations. He worked with and advocated for the Michigan Eye Bank, helping to get the donor information on Michigan driver licenses. He was an avid reader, enjoyed golfing, traveling and spending time with his grandchildren. He married Darlene Bachula on September 28, 1996; she survives him. He also leaves children, Megen and Patrick Forster, North Branch, John and Laura Galbraith and Dan and Sherry Galbraith, all of Traverse City, Rob and Diane Bachula, Macomb Township, Rene and Jason Stuller and Jodi and Jos Mendez, all of Grand Rapids; grandchildren, Brenden, McKenna, Abigail, Jonah, Elizabeth, Grace, Noah, Asher, Erin, Eric, Kiley, Emily, Josh, Lyndsey, Alexus, Summer and Tyler; a brother-in-law, Ron Fedor, Gaylord; two nieces and one nephew, Carol, Jim and Shirley. He was predeceased by a brother, Orville Galbraith, sister, Grace Root, and brother-in-law, Arthur Fedor. Funeral Liturgy will take place at 11:00 a.m. Friday, February 19, 2016, at St. John XXIII Parish, St. Mary Church, 151 St. Mary Road, Hemlock, where his family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. until the time of Mass. Rev. Fr. Richard Jozwiak will officiate with burial in St. Mary Cemetery, Hemlock. Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider a favorite charity.
