Michael R. Smith was born in Detroit, MI to Joseph R. and Helen A. Smith. He attended Parochial School till his Father's Company transferred the family to Saginaw, Michigan. He graduated from Arthur Hill high School. He was an Army Veteran. He married his wife Peggy in Tampa, Florida. They returned to Saginaw a few years later. They had five children. John, Phil, Mike, Margaret and Joe. The oldest Child, John predeceased them May 20th, 1971 Mike had one Brother Thomas J. (Emilie) Americus Georgia, that both predeceased him.
