Michael (Mike) Rouech
Saginaw, Michigan
Passed away on August 3, 2023 at Healthsource in Saginaw, at the age of 81. Mike was born in Saginaw, the seventh of nine children to Ross and Faye (Brustmaker) Rouech. After growing up picking pickles and raising hell with his siblings in Kochville, Mike headed off to serve in the Navy. After stints in Chicago and San Diego, he returned to Saginaw to raise his growing family.
Mike worked for Unisys as an electronics technician for over 30 years. He was always a farmer at heart, though, and moved his family from Saginaw to a eighty acre plot of land in Whittemore where he focused on raising grapes, raspberries, pumpkins, and kids. He had three daughters that he loved dearly and a son that loved him.
Mike was a Catholic, service to his community and taking care of others were his core beliefs. He was an active member of St. James parish, a Lions member, and served on the local school board. Serving with gratitude and humility, he didn't wear his faith on his sleeve. He was a liberal, and that was something he did want you to know.
He was an underdog at heart, always helping and rooting for the disenfranchised. He was a State fan. These are related.
He loved nature and was most at home working the field, tending his crops, or sitting around a campfire drinking Busch Light. He was most content when his grandchildren were at his side at the campfire enjoying s’mores.
His wife cared for him deeply and was an amazing presence until the end. A personification of dedication and love. He is survived by and will be missed dearly by his wife, Donna (Greketis); daughters Kelly Raymond, Karrie (Rich Baskins), Nicole (Daniel Alabre), son Billy (Tiffany); grandchildren Samuel, Sophie, Josephine Alabre; Nate and Claire Baskins, and Evie and Iris Rouech.
Mike was preceded in death by his parents and siblings Joan (Richard Davis), Don (Helen), Henry, Nancy (Norm Stuck), Ted; and is survived by Iris (Bob Scharich), Pete (Nancy), and Dave (Penny); and numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews.
Visitation will take place on Tuesday, August 8, 2023 from 4:00-8:00pm, at W. L. Case and Company, 4480 Mackinaw Road. Memorial donations can be made to the Alzheimer’s Association. Please share your thoughts and memories with the family at the Funeral Chapel or at www.casefuneralhome.com
